Hiking with SeeStar S50

Tripod can be ditched in favor of something like this to distribute S50 weight on Az axis:

Groves supposed to distribute the pressure in plastic to 3 vectors/points to compensate for variable thermals and aging. The thickness defined by the 3/4 x 10 bolt head height hiding underneath. It can work as is, but better in tandem with the "ultraligt base" for further vertical stability.

Ultralight base:

Just a lightweight but rigid plate wider than the S50 footprint. E.g. from here: https://www.amazon.com/TITECOUGO-Bushcraft-Titanium-Replacement-Backpacker/dp/B09M8BZMHZ?th=1

In other words, your packing weight and volume can be minimized significantly. Just find 3-4 small round(ish) rocks, and attach the S50 unit with the short 3/4 x 10 bolt.
